Alexander Gray to represent Twrkv

Via Artnews—The estate of Abstract-Expressionist Jack Tworkov is now represented by New York’s Alexander Gray Associates, its namesake dealer told ARTnews in a recent telephone interview. For its first Tworkov show, which the gallery will present in September, it is taking a “micro-retrospective approach, which will focus on gesture and grid,” he said.

Featured Work (Nov): "Weatherman" 1953

Given the dramatic destruction brought on this week by Hurricane Sandy, it's only appropriate to highlight Tworkov's "Weatherman" painted in 1953 as our November 2012 featured work by the artist. Painted during the artist's Abstract Expressionist period, Tworkov brushes greys and whites in a composition that at once seems responsive to landscape but then seems more in tune to personal atmospheric unrest--even a reflection of the artist's inner psychosis.
